Project Lamplight

Practical support for student-led events.

Project Lamplight helps universities give student leaders practical tools, focused guidance, and structured support as they plan real events across the semester. Students continue to lead the work, with a clearer process and experienced support around them.

Why it exists

Real events give students real responsibility.

Student leaders can inherit budgets, approvals, vendors, timelines, campus partners, and peer coordination before they have much event-specific guidance. Project Lamplight gives them a place to organize the work, test decisions, and catch gaps early.

It works alongside the university’s existing systems. It does not replace campus policy, take over the event, or create a second student-affairs office.

Support matched to the event

The right level of support depends on the event, the team, and what they need.

Project Lamplight considers the event, student team, institutional priorities, timing, and responsibility involved before recommending the best fit: the Toolkit, a Working Session, or Full Support.

Planning Help

Event Toolkit

A set of planning tools where students organize budgets, commitments, tasks, schedules, decisions, and lessons throughout the process.

One focused touchpoint

Working Session

A focused conversation for teams facing a specific decision, obstacle, or question. We work through the issue, test options, and identify practical next steps.

Five-touchpoint model

Full Support

A fuller engagement for selected higher-stakes events, built around planning checkpoints, pre-event review, reflection, and a Closeout Brief.

Full Support

Five touchpoints, each with a distinct job.

This is a working progression, not five generic meetings. Each stage changes what the students know, decide, or carry forward.

Understand the Event

Clarify goals, priorities, constraints, and responsibilities.

Build the Plan

Identify decisions, tasks, timelines, and potential gaps.

Check the Progress

Review what has changed and where the team needs to adjust.

Prepare for the Moment

Pressure-test the plan before the event.

Capture the Learning

Reflect on decisions, outcomes, and what carries forward.

What the program provides

Support for students. Useful insight for the university.

Participating students receive access to the shared Toolkit, focused Working Sessions, selected Full Support engagements, and weekly office hours. Administrators receive agreed progress reporting, and supported events produce Closeout Briefs capturing decisions, lessons, and handoff recommendations.

For participating students

A place to organize the work, ask timely questions, and prepare with experienced guidance while keeping ownership of the event.

For administrators

A clearer view of planning progress, student participation, decision-making, common challenges, and student feedback.

For the next team

Decisions, lessons, and recommendations captured so future student leaders do not have to start from scratch.

Getting started

Finding the right fit

A first conversation helps identify where Lamplight can be most useful, which groups are a fit, and how the semester can be structured.
